Character's Name: Naar'ayikljed - Nara for short
Age (Human Years): 18
Gender: Female
Species: Alien
Social Class: Lower
Job: None, but currently forced to do Community Service
Appearance [this doesn't need to be longer than a paragraph]:
Nara is the shorter than most aliens of her age, but this means she is about average among humans. Her skin is a very pale blue, and she has purple hair. Her hair is cut into a shoulder-length bob with a block fringe, and she has two antenna that look like hair themselves and are situated on top of her head. They tend to hang over her face occasionally. She has orange eyes, a very common colour among her species.
Her clothing tends to be very tight and brightly coloured, and doesn't really cover much. She wears a pair of dark blue goggles over her eyes - having been used to darker conditions on her home planet, Nara finds it difficult to adjust to the bright sunlight on Earth - and a metal cuff on her ankle, which serves as a tracking device.
History: When she was young, Nara lived at home with her parents on the planet Suyiov. Her mother was a teacher and taught her daughter how to speak English - the language most commonly used on the planet Earth - whilst her father had a somewhat boring job in a factory.
Unfortunately, on the part of Suyiov where Nara lived, her family were discriminated against heavily because of their skin colour. The alien was beaten up multiple times and sexually assaulted once because of this, and because of this developed a hostility to anyone who thinks she's inferior to them.
Due to the abuse the family was suffering, they moved to a different area. As a teenager, Naar'ayikljed had a relationship with another alien that lived nearby, and was shocked to find out that her parents disapproved of him because of his skin colour. After being told she had to leave him, Nara decided she'd rather run away.
The relationship only lasted a few months, but she decided not to go home - she was perfectly capable, she decided, of taking care of herself. It wasn't long after this that she was involved in a major crime and arrested. Not wanting her on their planet any more, the government banished her and sent her to Earth (although Earth's government was informed that she was simply there to carry out community service).
Currently Nara lives on the ground layer of the town, although she pays regular visits to the underground - she thinks the people there are a lot more interesting and fun to hang around with.
Personality: Nara is very relaxed and light-hearted, she really doesn't take anything too seriously. She is pretty lazy, and tries to skive off doing her work whenever possible - although this usually leads her to spending her night in a prison cell.
Although she is generally a nice person, she does like to tease others and often laughs at people rather than with them. She loves kids and people of her own age, but tends tends to be hostile towards anyone significantly older than her. She dislikes those above her with great intensity, and goes out of her way to have as little contact with them as possible. When in a bad mood Nara has a tendancy to be very snappy and sarcastic, and has no problem losing her temper with anyone regardless of who they are.
She doesn't tend to think before she speaks, but doesn't think this is a problem because in her mind, if the other person gets offended it's their own fault for being so serious. She's openly flirty with many people, and isn't very good at maintaining relationships.
Lastly, she doesn't really cry - even when talking about her past (which she will do if asked) she just laughs, as if life is really one big game. This is because she believes it is.
Roleplay Sample:
Leaning back against the wall, Nara yawned and let her face settle into a wide grin. The sun was shining, and although she could see it - who made up that stupid rule, anyway? - she could feel it, which was good enough. In front of her, people were rushing around trying to set up their market stalls or heading to... wherever it was people went at this stupid time in the morning.
Honestly, Nara wasn't even sure why she was up, but she suspected it had something to do with her ankle cuff beeping so loudly it woke her up at stupid-o-clock in the morning. She was beginning to wonder why she hadn't just gone back to bed, but all logic she may have possessed seemed to have temporarily escaped.
Laughing as someone in front of her tripped up, the alien rose to her feet. The ankle cuff was getting annoyingly tight, which meant she was supposed to report to the police station so they could shove some more pointless orders in her face.
"Alright, I'm coming..." she muttered, kicking the annoying thing before beginning to set off - very very slowly. She wasn't going to make those police's lives easier by getting there on time... how stupid of an idea would that be?
